NSR HOSPITALS, REGION ZEALAND

We helped Region Zealand achieve national targets within cancer treatments through optimised use of CT- and MR-scan at Næstved, Slagelse and Ringsted Hospitals.

SITUATION

In 2017 and 2018 the Region Zealan did not meet their target for time between diagnostics and treatment for cancer patients due to delay in access to MR and CT-scans. As a result, budget were cut, and staff reduced in order to finance costs related to having scans done on private hospitals.

RESULTS

Through value stream mapping and analysis, the process of CT and MR-scans where optimized to be significantly more effective while at the same time the number of staff required for the operation were reduced. This resulted in a 50% increase in production (from 8 to 12 during a shift) as well as expansion of time of production by additionally 75% within existing staff and capacity (from 37 to 65 hours a week).

DELIVERABLES

Defined standard tools for planning, undertaking and systematic improvement of processes and KPIs to follow performance and quality. Training of leaders and staff resulting in a change of behavior allowing for effective implementation of new process, systems and tools.
